Welcome back, BOOKDRAGONS! Today I want to talk to you about the most interesting non-fiction book I read in 2017 and that is “Originals: How Non-Conformists Move the World” by Adam Grant.  You know how much I love to give you a little pre-history, so here we go.

A couple of years ago I watched a TED-talk video with Adam, where he talked about procrastination and how different creative processes actually benefit from it. His speech was very compelling and that’s why afterward I google him and stumbled upon his book.

It is not that expensive but I haven’t gotten around it for a couple of years but November was the month of free Kindles Unlimited and free audiobooks, so I finally started it. And it is amazing! More than that – it’s phenomenal! Whether you’re a psychologist or not, it doesn’t matter – you can still find so many gems in this book. The language is simple and understandable and even though most of the examples Adam gives are American, it’s still interesting and compelling.

Here are some things this book discusses in a fun and enlightening way:

  • When and why procrastination is your friend?

  • When should you trust your intuition?

  • Why are frenemies bad for you?

  • Why sometimes it’s much better to be second?

  • How come the birth order determines whether or not you take risks?

The answers to all of these questions are hidden within!

The take this book has on creativity is very entertaining and most importantly very eye-opening! As a person who strives creativity and dreams of “making it” in the creative world, I found so many useful pieces of advice here and I definitely plan on using them in my life. I simply loved this book and will keep on recommending it for the rest of my life!

So it should come to no surprise that I’m giving it 7 DRAGONS!

I would love to hear what you guys think of it, so let me know in the comments. I’ll see you in a couple of days and until then, I’ll leave you with my video! Keep on reading!
